Similar to the milder tasting European walnut, the black walnut has a very distinct and robust flavor that is highly prized for ice creams and baked goods. The flavor ranges from nutty to smoky with hints of wine and earth. While the flavor and texture of the black walnut kernel is highly prized, removing them from their tough shell can sometimes prove to be a challenge. Our wild black walnuts are pre-shelled and are available in large pieces or powder. They are wild-crafted in the Midwest.
